Day 7 of Common Wealth Games 2018 proved to be a good one for the ones representing India. Shreyasi Singh won the women’s double trap gold medal in the 21st Commonwealth Games here today. She shot 96 in the finals and managed to beat Australia’s Emma Cox 2 shots to 1 in the shoot-off at Belmont Shooting Centre.

President of India congratulated Shreyasi for her victory on Twitter.
Shreyasi said, “I’m feeling really well. In 2014, I won the silver and I was really upset that I couldn’t win the gold but now, also I was trailing, but when I got the opportunity to fight more and fight harder in the shoot off, I was really happy about that, and I gave it 100 per cent.”
She further added, “Emma (COX, AUS) is of course a brilliant competitor to be winning the gold medal against, so lots of wishes to her. She shot really well, too. But I think God is on my side and I’m feeling really lucky.”
On the other hand, Indian shooter Om Mitharwal won the bronze medal in the men’s 50 meter Pistol event. He registered a total score of 201.1 in the final.
Many congratulations to Shreyashi and Om Mitharwal, keep making our country proud!
