Remember Our Desi Superhero Shaktimaan? Here’s What Its Cast Is Up To Now!

If you’re a 90’s kid then you’ve certainly picked major lessons of life from ‘Shaktimaan’! The superhero who taught us values played an important role in our childhood and boy, we wouldn’t miss a single episode of the man who saved the world and also played the character of a journalist as his real identity.
The show that introduced us to the concept of superheroes ended back in 2005 and here’s what the cast of this show is up to now. 
1) Mukesh Khanna
Gangadhar aka Shaktimaan was played by our favorite, Mukesh Khanna who was last seen on a television show named ‘Waaris’ where he played the role of ‘Lalaji’. After Shaktimaan he acted in various television serials and you’d be surprised to know, he also runs various acting institutes across the country.
2) Vaishnavi Mahant 
Vaishnavi played the character of a reporter, Geeta Vishwas and got pretty famous after that. She was seen in numerous television serials and is also known for her performance in ‘Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke’ as Shail Garg. She also plays the role of Indu Ramnik Bhanushali in ‘Dil Se Dil Tak’ that is aired on Colors TV.
3) Surendra Pal 
The man is known to play the evil character of Tamraaj Kilvish and we all remember the terror he created. He went on to play more characters of the same genre and one of his notable characters include Daksha in ‘Devon Ke Dev’ and Vikranta Jabbar in Ramsay Brothers produced horror TV serial Zee Horror Show’s episode “Saya.” He also directed and produced Bhojpuri movies.
4) Lalit Parimoo 
Lalit was seen playing the character of Dr. Jaikaal who turned evil as he started working for the villain ‘Kilvish’ upon being denied a scholarship. Lalit was later seen in big budget Bollywood movies including ‘Agent Vinod’ and ‘Haider’.  Parimoo has also written a book titled Main Manushya Hoon (I Am a Human). He was last seen as Paramjit in the Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor starrer Mubarakan.
5) Tom Alter 
His full name is Thomas Beach Alter and he is an Indian actor of American descent. He played the role of ‘Guruji’, the man who gave Shaktimaan all his powers. He was also awarded the Padma Shri in the year 2008. He was the lead actor in “Once Upon A Time” a collection of five short stories presented as vignettes, directed by Sujata Soni Bali, and co-starring prominent stage actor and TV personality Sunit Tandon. The production was last staged in Mumbai on 17 June 2017.
6) Ashwini Kalsekar 
She played the role of black cat on Shaktimaan and later gained popularity for her role in Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kasamh Se’ as Jigyasa Walia. She also appeared in various Bollywood movies including Golmaal series and ‘All The Best’. She is also a trained Kathak dancer.
All said and done, we miss this epic show till date and the cast has come a long way after that. The show will forever remain close to our hearts and will always be an integral part of our childhood.
