YouTube released its mid-year update on July 20. According to this, more than 1.9 billion people watch YouTube on average worldwide every month. These users now watch it on TV screens for more than 18 million hours a day. About 80 percent of India’s total internet population access YouTube. There are 225 million users in India in terms of numbers.
YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki said in the Mid-year update that all the creators are setting up their business and are trying to connect with the world with the help of just one phone and the Internet. During this time, Susan Wojcicki also introduced other facts:
1. Twitter Handles
In the past year, the response from YouTube’s official Twitter handles (@TeamYouTube, @YTCreators, and @YouTube) has increased by 600 percent.
2. Reach
Its reach has increased by 30 percent during 2017-18.
3. Engagement On Youtube
Every day 6 million users click on the Community post or engage in some other way.
4. Likes and Comments
In the last one year, there was a 60 percent increase in likes, comments, and chat.
5. Live Streaming
In the last three year, watch time of live streaming has increased 10 time creating great opportunities for the creators to be successful here too.
6. Copyright Match
It has launched a tool called “Copyright Match” for creators. This tool matches Content ID With this help the creators can find a copy of their video. Under the tool, it will automatically scan when new video uploads and it will show in the match tab when the video is found.
7. New Dashboard
The company has been testing a new dashboard with content creators. Now, it has been launched in English language and for 76 other languaged will be launched in the coming two weeks.
