“You need to study more or else you are not going to be a better person !” We all have heard all these lines but really study makes a person better or not ? That’s where our education system fails. We always see in our class that most of the teachers loves a particular student only because he or she is a topper. Being a adult , now we understand there are plenty of wrong things in education system that need to be changed .
Here are some main defects in Indian Education System
1. Long answer means good grades !
That’s one of the biggest problem with our education policy. We write a 3-4 pages essay which could have been written in just 6-7 lines with same meaning. As a article writer we also try to write a article as long as we can , but why ?Because as a kid we have learnt that size matters means it doesn’t matter what have you written but how much you have written matters !
2. More students less collages
Every year millions of students joins a race to get admission in a good collage. But in India their is always lack of good collages. Some students who want to take admission in a good collages start preparing before 4-5 years. For example students who want to take admission in IITs begin their preparations in class 9 but still they fails to get admission.[ecp code=”3″]
3.Your life is wasted if you have low grades
If you want to get admission in a reputative collage or want a job but you have low grades then your life is just hooked. It does not matter how much practical knowledge you have what matter is how much grades you have .In India grades are a mark for intelligence of a person!
4. Cram ! Cram ! Cram !
How many times this happened to you that your answer was too good but still you didn’t get good marks because your answer was not word to word copy of what was written in the textbook ? Well ! I guess quite a lot time. Cramming things is more important than understanding things, according to our education system . Result , Cramming – the only thing we learnt from school.[ecp code=”3″]
5.No development of social skills
Many schools in India just tries to make students bookworms. No doubt such students are intelligent but they have less social skills. Many schools in South starts preparing a student for IITs from class 5.They take special evening classes. Such students don’t get much time to play and hence are less social active.
6. Bad Infrastructure
Some Indian collages don’t have a good atmosphere to study ,means they lack in infrastructure. If you ever have been in a hostel , you could easily understand value of home food. Mess food, even in best collages, is no eatable . They just made creepy foods that can’t be eaten.
[ecp code=”3″]7.Reservation
Reservation is the main cause of why India is still developing. You can get admission in a very good college if you are a reserved student but your admission is not certain if you are a deserved candidate. Quite good thinking of our government. Reservation should be made but according to economic basis and not caste basis.
8. Good schools are not too much
It is said for a good building you need good base . That’s true , for a good career you first need a good school. But only 1% of Indian students are able to go to good big schools, rest goes to simple government or private schools which even don’t have facility of clear water .
9.Some great teachers
Very few teachers are good in their jobs. Most of them are because of recommendation of some politicians. They don’t know how to teach . Some of them use their teaching skills to earn more , they will teach you in tution rather than in schools.
10. No research work is done
IIM after IIT is almost a culture here. The best scientific minds are lost because a career in finance is more lucrative than a career in science and innovation. The result – we lose out a chunk of talented individuals to finance companies – which do not add any value to the society.[ecp code=”3″]
11. No practical knowledge!
We all know how much practical knowledge we have especially the engineers in india. Being a student of engineering, I can tell that. Indian education focus mostly on scores rather than practical performance and thats the major drawback of our system.
