Miss Universe 2017 – Why A Selfie Created An Outrage In People So Badly?
During Miss Universe 2017, contestants when landed in Las Vegas as is not out of the ordinary, a lot of selfies took place. In any case, there is one picture that started significant shock on the web.

At the point when Miss Iraq Sarah Idan posted a selfie with Miss Israel Adar Gandelsman, she most likely didn’t suspect the discussion it would cause.
Idan imparted the photograph to her Israeli partner to online networking with the lines “Peace and Love from Miss Iraq and Miss Israel”.

What might seem like a generic, beauty pageant-like caption of “world peace” has received major backlash from some Arab social media users, with many reminding the pageant competitor that Iraq has no diplomatic relations with Israel and it is considered an occupying state.
Because of the ongoing tensions between Iraq and Israel a photo of the two women together promoting “peace” was “not to everyone’s taste”, said YouTuber Sabrina Bennoui.
“The beauty queen of Iraq is happily posing with the beauty queen of occupation and brutality.” Asaad Abukhalil, a professor based in the US, tweeted.
“If you are an honourable Arab you have to hate Israel forever. Palestine is our honour, the Arabs,” an Instagram user commented.
Another someone stated, “You want peace with the enemies, with those who invade lands and murder innocent children.”
Ms. Grandlesman posted a similar photo to her Instagram account with the caption “This is Miss Iraq and she’s amazing” and received significantly less negative comments.

Miss Iraq Sarah Idan and Miss Israel Adar Gandelsman (no relation...) met at the Miss Universe beauty pageant and became friends. Miss Iraq posted this photo on her Instagram. What a great message of hope for the region. Good luck to both Sarah and Hadar.
In any case, not every person disapproved of the photograph, with numerous clients commending the ladies for utilizing their positions to advance the message of peace.

“Miss Israel approached me during a photo session. After kindly greeting me, she asked if we could take a photo together and I agreed because I saw it as an opportunity to express our mutual desire for world peace. Her photo of us received praise, while I only got negative comments,” her statement read.
“This photo does not mean I condone the Israeli government or its policies. I’d like to apologize to anyone who considered this an insult to the Palestinian cause.”
Following the online kickback, Idan issued an announcement apologizing for any offense the photograph caused, saying that the point of the photo was to advance a “shared want for world peace”.
