She is Ananya Birla, the daughter of Aditya Birla Group’s chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla. Thanks to her background, Ananya became involved in the business at a very young age. While she could have happily joined her father’s business, she chose otherwise and opened her own micro-finance company at the tender age of 17. Her business venture is known as “Svatantra Microfinance”, which works towards the emancipation of underprivileged women from the rural India.

Today, “Svatantra Microfinance” operates in four Indian states from more than seventy branches with as many as 600 people working under her. In fact, the company also received the Gold Award for being the best Indian start-up under Ananya’s leadership.
