MS Dhoni is one such player who has made his name in the world of cricket with his dedication and hard work. From a small boy from Ranchi who was not interested to play with the small ball, to becoming the best skipper in the history of Indian cricket, MS Dhoni’s journey has inspired millions.
A small part of his journey was abstracted in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. The film stared Sushant Singh Rajput (as MS Dhoni) and Kiara Advani in lead role with a cameo by Disha Patani.
The film starts with a kid Mahi, whose father manages the cricket ground near his house and earns an average income. Dhoni did not have much interest in Cricket and liked Football instead.
One day, he was noticed by the cricket coach of his school when he was goal-keeping. He was surprised to see his catches and saves and decided to offer him to join cricket. Earlier, Dhoni rejected the offer but later selected the offer and joined school team as wicket-keeper.
Dhoni, who was not aware of his own wicket-keeping talents, was more interested in batting but his coach insisted more on wicket-keeping.
With passing time, Dhoni became exceptional in batting as well as wicket-keeping. He was noticed and was recommended by seniors for selection rounds.
Time passed and Dhoni started playing for various clubs and then for his state. With help of his supportive friends, he got sponsorship for his professional cricket team.
Dhoni was also selected in Dilip Trophy but was not informed personally. Dhoni came to know through his coach who came to know from the newspaper but he was late to reach the airport and missed it.
Meanwhile, he got an offer from Railways for the post of ticket collector. Due to parent’s pressure, he accepted the offer but continued to play in railway teams and practising. It was getting tough for him bur he managed it.
After reaching to limit, he left the job and kept playing more cricket. He finally got selected for the cricket team of the country but he was performing average. Soon in a flight, he met a beautiful girl named Priyanka (played by Disha Patani) who does not recognise him at first which Dhoni thinks is cute. They slowly fell in love.
However, on one unfortunate day, Priyanka met with an accident and left the world. Dhoni cried when he came to know and it hit him from the core. He became a powerful hitter as if he was hitting the ball with sadness and anger.
As time passed, he was named the captain of the Indian cricket team. After some years he met Sakshi (played by Kiara Advani) at a hotel where she worked and they became friends.
Sakshi was in love with Dhoni and was upset with media too. Mahi finally proposed to her and they got married.
The film then shows how Dhoni excelled with the launch of Chennai Super Kings and as a wicket-keeper batsman and as a captain.
Then comes the D-Day of Worldcup. After heroic stroke by Gautam Gambhir, Dhoni comes to bat when Yuvraj was on non-striker end.
The duo hits more runs and finally, Dhoni hits the last six and India wins the world cup with glory. The film then shows real MS Dhoni, walking on the ground after hitting the six and the film ends, but not the journey.
The film was a huge hit and the second part is in the making with the same star cast. The second part will feature his CSK Wins and how his life changed after becoming a father.
