The daughter of veteran star Tiku Talsania, Shikha Talsania said that she has talent and wants to prove herself.
She added that she expects the film industry stops observing her in a unidimensional way.
Shikha made her foray into Bollywood with Wake Up Sid (during the year 2009), and she was seen playing the character of Laxmi, the talented and body mindful bestie of Ranbir.
Shikha also worked in many flicks including Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, My Friend Pinto, and Midnight’s Children, among others.
Now, she is all set to showcase her talent in the forthcoming movie Veere Di Wedding. She added that she is well aware of her look and is open to conversion if a role asks for the same.
“Look at Aamir Khan, the way he transforms for a film. I will put on weight or lose weight, I will do it for a film. I got much fitter for Veere Di Wedding. There is much more to me than just what I look like. Everybody should think like that. I just want to act, perform. We are at a wonderful time where more well-etched out parts are being written for women. I am happy being this person, this is me,” Shikha added.
After entering into the acting world, the actor said that she bagged related characters and she said no to a few of the roles as she wish to do something different.
“I was hungry for work and nobody knew me. I want the entire world to know about me. I was making calls and finding out about the auditions. Auditions are nothing but part of acting. But, a lot of work that came my way was very unidimensional, like the character who is fat or despite being fat she is funny. I was not comfortable with that. There has been a lot of work to which I have said no. I hope the struggle ends,” she said.
In the upcoming flick Veere Di Wedding, she will be witnessed donning the character of Meera, who ties the nuptial knot without her parents’ permission.
“Rhea Kapoor, who is producing the film, and Karan Johar knew me from before as I had done Wake Up Sid with them. I was called by casting director Mukesh Chhabra, I did a look test and got selected,” she said.
The actor said that Veere Di Wedding is based on female bonding and their fights in the current world.
Shikha said that there is regular talk about acting at her home and her dad values her work.
On the other hand, well-known beauty Swara Bhasker lifts up a valid spat that why one wouldn’t inquire Anurag Kashyap that why his movies demonstrate men using abusing words and language.
Swara Bhasker may be seen donning an ultra-glamorous character in Veere Di Wedding, but she said that she will not compromise on the content of the movie even if she is picking an obvious commercial project.
“There are people who have offered me films that were so-called glamorous but there was nothing much for me to do in them. So I didn’t do that. I have a body of work that justifies that I should have something fairly substantial to do. I can’t do something random just to be seen in a certain clothing… I will not be able to do that,” Swara added.
