Harvey Weinstein, the popular Hollywood producer surrendered to the police in Manhattan yesterday in charge of raping a woman and forced another to perform oral sex on him, now has been released on $1 million bail.
The 66-years-old producer Weinstein also allowed to wear a GPS tracker and to surrender his passport when he surrenders himself to police yesterday.
He was charged related to two only but shockingly more than 70 women have accused the producer of sexual misconduct.
Prosecutors said, “Weinstein had been charged with two counts of rape and one count of a criminal sexual act involving two women, who were not identified.”
One of the witnesses also told, “Weinstein appeared pale and stared into space while prosecutors outlined the bail agreement. The case was adjourned until July 30. Outside the court, Weinstein’s lawyer, Ben Brafman.”
“We intend to move very quickly to dismiss these charges. We believe that they are constitutionally flawed. We believe that they are not factually supported by the evidence,” he said.
NY Police department also issued a statement, “these brave survivors for their courage to come forward and seek justice”. Further, a leading portal wrote, “The Manhattan District Attorney’s office is expected to charge Weinstein with at least one case. The New York Times and the New York Daily News reported the case would involve allegations that he forced Lucia Evans to perform oral sex during an audition in 2004.”
On the professional front, Harvey Weinstein is known for producing films like “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, “Shall We Dance?” and “Shakespeare In Love”.
