There are few important facts about LPG cylinder that all consumers must know. Most of the users don’t know about the fact that the cylinders have an expiry date. Most of the people check the seal and weight but they never check the date. It can prove fatal if you use an expired cylinder.
LPG Companies never tell you about this information. And thus they make money by selling Cylinders that are expired and user buy them without any hesitation due to lack of knowledge.
How to check the expiry date?
The expiry date is written on the strips of the cylinder beneath the ring. It is written in the form of a character from A to D along with 2 digit no.
- A means First Quarter (January to March)
- B means Second Quarter (April to June)
- C means Third Quarter (July to September)
- D means Fourth Quarter (October to December)

The 2 digit no means the year. For eg if the written expiry is A12, it is expired as the date is March 2012.
Be careful and always check the expiry date of the LPG cylinder while buying it from the vendors. Complain immediately to the agency of the vendor is supplying you expired cylinders.
