Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma tied the knot on December 11 in Tuscany, Italy and hosted a high-profile wedding reception in New Delhi on December 21. The Prime Minister congratulated the couple on their wedding. While Anushka Sharma was looking stunning in red Banarsi saree, sindoor, mogra and uncut diamonds, Virat donned Bandgala with a shawl. Both the Indian cricket captain and his wife looked like characters out of a Rajshri production.
The couple’s hush-hush wedding has been the talk of the town ever since the reports started pouring in about their wedding. It was kept a secretive affair and reports suggest that only Shah Rukh Khan and Aditya Chopra knew about it. Even Ranbir Kapoor, who worked with Anushka Sharma in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was not aware about it. In Bollywood circles, Ranbir and Anushka are known to be thick friends, but not having a clue about her wedding left him in shock and he felt like his character Ayan in real life too. He has revealed this even in a Twitter chat.
“hey Ranbir, Anushka’s wedding is incomplete without you singing Channa mereya. Just saying ” asked one of his fans, to which Ranbir replied, “I felt sad because I had no idea about it but I felt happy because I’ve never seen her so happy and beautiful.”
Ranbit was refering to his character in the movie ‘ADHM’ when he sang the soulful song “Channa Mereya” after expressing his love by applying heena on his hands on the mehendi of Anushka’s Alizeh.
After staying away from all forms of social media, the actor chose to connect with his audience via one of his fan pages. Among other questions, one of the users asked Ranbir about his feelings on ‘Virushka’ wedding.
One of his fans asked:“hey Ranbir, Anushka’s wedding is incomplete without you singing Channa mereya. Just saying ” asked one of his fans, to which Ranbir replied, “I felt sad because I had no idea about it but I felt happy because I’ve never seen her so happy and beautiful.”
