Does Sanjay Leela Bhansali Create Controversies To Gain More Publicity for His Movies?
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of the ace directors of the Hindi film industry. The director has given us many masterpieces which are still considered timeless movies of Bollywood.
The actor has many blockbuster films to credit like Devdas, Black, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam to name a few. SLB’s films are not just considered number one for their stories and star cast but also for the larger than life sets, magnificent locations and breathtaking scenes which will leave you awestruck.
However, what follows SLB’s films is a bunch of controversies before and after the film’s releases. This has become quite a common thing for Bhansali’s films, however now people have started speculating that it is all a publicity stunt to create a hype among the audiences.
His 2002 release Devdas was one of the most beautiful films of Bollywood. However, the film contained a song where Chandramukhi (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and Paro (Madhuri Dixit) performed a dance on Dola Re Dola. But in reality, they never met. This did not go well with the people in Bengal and they strongly opposed the film. However, this controversy didn’t affect SLB but the film got immense hype and it proved to be a blockbuster hit.
In 2005, SLB came with a super intense film Black, where he showed a scene where Rani Mukerji and Amitabh Bachchan have locked lips. Things got more controversial since Rani and Big B’s son Abhishek were dating each other. The film proved to be a massive hit, however, the controversy ended Rani and Abhi’s relationship.

In 2010, Sanjay Leela’s film Guzaarish starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan gained limelight for all the wrong reasons. He was blamed for stealing the story and was imposed on allegations of mercy killing. However, luck did not favor him this time and the filmed failed to impress the viewers.
In 2013, SLB came up with a love story Ram Leela. The movie was surrounded by controversies due to its title. Many Hindu outfits protested against this. Due to these protests, Bhansali changed the name and added Gooliyon Ki Rasleela as a caption with Ram Leela. The film proved to a record-breaking blockbuster.

In 2015, Bhansali made a historical drama of Maratha warrior Bajirao Mastani where he showed the warrior as a common lover for which he had to face many protests. However, Bhansali was least bothered with the protests and his film became a huge hit.
And now, SLB is back with one more historical drama Padmavati. The film was facing severe protests ever since it’s inception. Things have worsened and the film’s release too has been postponed. Well, let’s wait and watch if Bhansali’s film will face a smooth release just like his other films in spite of the controversies or will it go in haywire!
