The new Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar is back to her hometown at the DRDO residential complex in Timarpur near North Campus, Delhi and people welcomed her like a queen. A parade which was ahead of Manushi’s vehicle was implicative of her grand welcome when Manushi came back home after grabbing the title of fbb Colors Femina Miss India 2017. However, this time she was not a chariot, the Miss World 2017 rode in an open luxury car.
The amazing welcome had dhol beats and her neighbour and friends were ready at the start of her colony with bouquets and autograph books, Manushi’s welcome event was astonishing. She said, “I am finally back home and I have been thinking about coming here since I came back to Delhi. I am so happy to see that everyone’s so excited. They all have seen me grow up and have been a part of my journey. We all are a part of one big DRDO family and each one has contributed a lot in helping me achieve this.”
Manushi’s mother Neelam Chhillar and brother Dalmitra were present at the parade.
The main person to wait for her at the entrance was her parental grandfather Chander Singh Sehrawat. “It is because of Manushi that we got a chance to meet the Prime Minister. He congratulated Manushi and said, ‘Beti ne naam uncha kiya hai Hindustan ka.’ We are very happy. People have been wishing us from the day she became Miss World. She has been so busy since the time she won the title that meeting her is difficult for us too. We met her last night around 1am and have been waiting for her to visit home and meet us,” he said.
The maternal grandmother of Manushi, Savitri Sehrawat, told us that her relatives and people from the native place are eagerly waiting to meet her and soon they will ho to meet Rohtak to meet them. “We were planning to do a function in Rohtak. We have a big family there and all of them could not come here, but since her schedule is so hectic, we could not arrange the programme. We had done a function when she became the fbb Colors Femina Miss India. But it doesn’t seem possible right now due to her tight schedule,” she said
Special arrangements for her welcome-home programme was made in a park where people from her society had gathered. Manushi and her family addressed the gathering and her mother, Neelam Chhillar, wrote a note for her. “Standing here, I am reminded of a younger Manushi who was always determined, focussed. Today, I won’t list her qualities, but I would like to tell all of you what a beautiful person she is and how gracefully she has handled her success. She has made the DRDO family and the entire country proud. I only hope that she enjoys her journey just like we have enjoyed being part of hers. I would only like to say, ‘Be the way you are’,” she said. Mitra Basu Chhillar, Manushi’s father, thanked everyone who had come to congratulate her on her victory. “I am a proud father. Par aajmeri khushi aur badh gayi hai kyunki meri DRDO family yahan aayi hai. I thank you all for coming here today,” he said.
Manushi’s dad kept passing autograph books to her for signature to the kids who came to welcome her.
