After destroying the Sri Lankan batting on 205 in the first inning, Indian batsmen portrayed an astonishing performance on the ground on the ground. Four batsmen scoring centuries, Murali Vijay 128, Cheteshwar 143, Virat Kohli (c) 213, Rohit Sharma not out 102.
After India reached 610 and a lead of 405 runs skipper Virat Kohli declared the inning to bat in the last session of the third day. Eventually, Ishant Sharma gave them an early blow by dismissing Sadeera Samarawickrama.
The fourth day began with Sri Lanka 21/1 chasing the lead of 405 by the Indian team.The Indian bowlers again destroyed the batting line-up of the visitor’s team and bowled out them at 166 runs.
Off-spinner R Ashwin took four wickets to complete his overall match spell with 8-130. Ashwin achieved a big landmark by becoming the fastest bowler in Test history to take 300 wickets. Now, India lead the series 1-0.
