The deadly blue Whale game has already taken lives of many kids round the world. And now, it is spreading like an incurable virus in India as well. Another teen has committed suicide after allegedly playing the game. 14 year old boy hanged himself to death at the residence of his maternal grandfather at Indira Nagar in Lucknow on Thursday morning. Mother of the deceased found him hanging from the ceiling fan of his room.
The class 8th student used to stay at his grandfather’s house along with his mother. His family has blamed the Blue Whale Game for his suicide. Police too didn’t check his cellphone since the family had given in writing that the teenager had hanged himself because of the Blue Whale Challenge and they did not want to pursue any legal action.
Ghazipur police Sub-Inspector Durga Prasad Yadav said: “The family has given us in written that the Blue Whale game has led to the death and they do not want to take any legal action.”
The teenager’s grandfather told The Indian Express, “Yesterday, he woke up around 9 am, had breakfast with his grandmother… Around 11 am, he went upstairs. After a few minutes, his grandmother called him but he didn’t respond. Later, she went up and found the door locked from inside. She called him several times but received no response. She then called up his mother, who was not at home at that time.”
He further said, “Our daughter soon returned home… when she looked inside through the gap in the door, she found him hanging from a scarf.”
Talking about his behaviour from past few days, he said that he was behaving quite normal. He added, “His friends are saying that during the last few days, he used to warn them about the Blue Whale game and suggest they should never try it.”
His father is a lawyer in Hardoi district, while his mother works at a publishing house run by her father.
10 days back, a 19 year old teen from Tamil Nadu took his life by hanging himself. A note was recovered from the spot which said, “Blue Whale- This is not a game but danger. Once you enter, you cannot exit.”
To all those teenagers, who are reading this, we request you to kindly not play this game in name of trying something thrilling. those who are already playing it, guys, there is definitely an exit. Nobody can force you to take your own life, Nobody is gonna come and harm your family. Don’t be afraid. If you feel trapped because of this game, then go and talk to your parents, or teachers, or an elder sibling.
To the parents who are reading this, kindly keep a check on your kid. Counsel him/her about the same before it’s too late.
