We all know who Harish Salve is? He is the man who saved Salman Khan from going to jail. Harish Salve, one of the highest paid lawyers in India, has taken up the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav. Jadhav is an Indian national who was sentenced to death in Pakistan. On Monday, the Indian delegates presented a strong case in front of International Court of Justice (ICJ). However, it was Harish Salve, who left no stone unturned in projecting how Jadhav is a businessman, who was kidnapped by Pakistan.
When it was reported that Salve has taken up Kulbhushan Jadhav’s case, everyone started to wonder about how much he was being paid for representing the country. One curious Twitter user even tweeted about the same.
Any good India lawyer would have done the same and with much less expenses than #HarishSalve. Wait for the verdict!https://t.co/Gfw3sBufrL— #Intolerant भारतीय (@goyalsanjeev) May 15, 2017
Even though he did not tag Ministry of External Affairs or Sushma Swaraj to get an answer, the EAM was quick to react to the tweet, and told everyone that Harish Salve has only charged Re 1 for this case.
Not fair. #HarishSalve has charged us Rs.1/- as his fee for this case. https://t.co/Eyl3vQScrs— Sushma Swaraj (@SushmaSwaraj) May 15, 2017
While Pakistan claimed that Jadhav, who is a former Navy Officer, was a RAW agent who had ties with separatists in Balochistan, India has claimed that he was a businessman in Iran who was abducted by Pakistani agencies.
India has now urged the ICJ to suspend Jadhav’s death sentence and has also expressed fears that he could be executed even before the hearing.
